The Brewers and Garnet Chargers both have non-conference action slated for the weekend before squaring off in a pivotal matchup against each other on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in Schenectady.

Junior Melody Herrin had a season-high seven kills, hitting .667 for the second time this season. First-year Johanna Melhorn also hit above .500, putting down three kills without an error. She also had a pair of block solos and block assists.

Despite the sweep, Union trailed in all three sets, beginning with a 1-0 deficit in the first. The Garnet Chargers responded with a five-point rally and never trailed again in the opener, also closing out the first with five straight points for a 25-16 win. Sophomore Shea Ringel closed it out for Union at the service line, notching two aces while Melhorn also had two kills and a block.

In a back-and-forth second set, Union finally pulled away after a 19-19 tie with a 6-1 run featuring two kills from Martinez Cartagena.

Herrin came alive with five kills in the third set as Union hit .433 to close things out.

Junior Allie Kronenberg led her team with 11 digs and also dished out 32 assists to go along with two kills and two block assists. First-year Vanessa Morgan had her most digs since returning to the lineup with nine and also had a season-high six assists.
