SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Juniors
Jack Plesser and
Tanner Tedesco of the Union College men's basketball team both earned All-Region honors early this week. Plesser was a consensus first-team selection to both the D3hoops.com All-Region and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District teams, while Tedesco also earned a D3hoops.com All-Region second-team nod.
Plesser and Tedesco are the first Union teammates to earn D3hoops.com All-Region honors in the same season since the awards started in 2001 and give Union eight All-Region honorees over that span.
Plesser is Union's first All-Region first-team selection since Deshon Burgess '17 in 2017 and just the fourth in program history to earn first-team laurels from both D3hoops.com and the NABC. The 2025-26 Liberty League Player of the Year, he averaged 22.6 points per game to lead the Liberty League in scoring by 3.5 ppg and finished 23rd in Division III in both scoring average and field goals made thanks to a conference-best 55.3 percent (214 of 387) field-goal percentage. The junior also ended the year second among conference players in both rebounding (7.6 rpg) and blocks (37), as well as third in free-throw percentage (76.2 percent). On the season, Plesser scored double figures in 24 of 25 games, highlighted by six games with 30+ points and 15 games with 20 or more points to go along with seven double-doubles.
The Fairfield, Conn., native ended the year sixth on Union's all-time single-season scoring list with 566 points and his 22.6 ppg average is fifth-best ever by a Union player. He also tied for fourth in single-season field goals (214) and sixth in free throws (128) as well. In three seasons, Plesser already ranks 13th in program history with 1,263 points and his 16.4 ppg scoring average currently is ninth-best among Union players all-time.
Following up his second-team honor from a season ago, Tedesco is only the second Union player to earn multiple D3hoops.com All-Region accolades in a career and, combined with his Regional Rookie of the Year laurels as a first-year, is the first Union player ever to be recognized by the website in three separate seasons. As a junior, Tedesco led the Liberty League and ranked 14th in Division III with 150 assists, the fifth-highest single-season mark in program history, while also leading the Liberty League by shooting 40.8 percent (62 of 152) from three-point range. He ranked third in the Liberty League in threes made (62) and finished 10th in scoring at 14.5 points per game, scoring in double-figures in 18 games this season.
A three-year starter for Union, Tedesco became the 26th player in program history to record 1,000 points this season and will enter his final year with 1,007 points and 452 assists to his credit. He already ranks fifth in program history in assists, thanks to two of the five top single-season totals ever at Union, and also will bring the program's third-highest career free-throw percentage (83.2 percent) into his final year.
