Werner, Wintringer Homer as Union Splits with RIT to Close 2026 Season

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Seniors Elizabeth Werner and Ellie Wintringer homered to help Union split with Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon to close out the 2026 season.

Game One: Union 6, RIT 1

Wintringer and Werner each went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Kyla Springer finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while sophomores Carra Cleaves, Amy FitzPatrick, and Sammy Fenigstein each scored a run.

RIT opened the scoring with a solo home run by Taryn Jones in the first inning. Union responded in the fifth when Guastaferro scored on an error, and Springer followed with a two-RBI double to bring home Cleaves and Fenigstein for a 3–1 lead.

In the sixth, Werner extended the advantage with a solo home run, and FitzPatrick later scored on a passed ball. Wintringer capped the scoring in the seventh with a solo home run to secure the 6–1 win.

Game Two: RIT 8, Union 0

RIT got on the board early in the first inning with a two-run home run from Taryn Jones and an RBI walk by Maria Minemier to take a 3–0 lead. Jones added to the advantage in the second with another two-run homer to make it 5–0.

After a scoreless third inning, RIT added a run in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Sylvia White. The Tigers then sealed the game in the fifth, scoring twice more on a fielder's choice that led to a run coming home on an error and a wild pitch to secure the 8–0 win.
