Women's Lacrosse Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, 10 on Honor Roll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – A program-record 10 members of the Union College women's lacrosse team were honored for their successes in the classroom this year with spots on the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll, announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Recent graduates Rosie Crooker '26, Christina Guanci '26, Bella Juliano '26, Emily Moore '26, Abbi Uhl '26, and Sydney Widlitz '26 were joined by juniors Hannah Compa, Anna Dembowski, Gillian Joseph, and Lexi Varano. Guanci, Moore, and Uhl all received academic recognition from the IWLCA for the second year in a row.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher at the conclusion of the school year.

Head coach Alyssa Treanor's squad broke its previous record of six IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honorees, originally set in 2021 and matched last season. Union was one of four Liberty League teams to put double-digit student-athletes on the honor roll in 2026, joined by Vassar (17), William Smith (13), and RIT (11).

Treanor's team was also named an Academic Honor Squad by the IWLCA for the first time since 2023. To qualify for this prestigious honor, women's lacrosse teams must have a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

The Garnet Chargers also saw great success on the field in 2026, recording the third at-large NCAA Tournament bid in program history and winning a game in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time. Union went 14-7 overall, tying for fourth on the school's single-season wins list and powered by five All-Liberty League players. Compa, Dembowski and Joseph all earned spots on the IWLCA All-Region first team, while junior Maddy Schiller earned All-Region second-team honors as well.
