TROY, N.Y. - Union College student-athletes collected six weekly honors from the Liberty League for the week ending Sunday, September 27.

Women's Tennis Singles Performer of the Week: Loden Bradstreet
Bradstreet earned her first collegiate dual match victory in Union's 7-0 win over Bard on Wednesday, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lisa Kyrtoka at the top singles flight.

Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week: Loden Bradstreet and Maddy Alecia
Bradstreet and Alecia earned their first collegiate dual match doubles victory in Union's 7-0 win over Bard on Wednesday, posting a 6-0 win over Lisa Kyrtoka and Jesse Radzik at the top flight.

Women's Rowing Boat of the Week: Union Pair
First-years Caroline Kruggel (stroke) and Natalie Dinneen (bow) represented Union at the Mohawk Fall Invite on Sunday, racing in the Collegiate 2x Final. While making their debuts in Garnet & Black, the pair of rookies finished in 16:55.06 to place third. The duo of Garnet Chargers were only 10+ seconds behind Division-I University at Buffalo. 

Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week: Brody Richardson
Richardson placed 15th in the field of 216 runners and second among all first-years at the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown by finishing the 8K course in a school-record time of 24:37.4, a time that placed him just one-tenth of a second ahead of the previous program standard set in 2024. The first-year slowly increased his standing over the course of the race, moving from 33rd after the first 1000 meters to 25th at the 2K mark, then up to 18th with 3K left and incrementally moving closer to the front of the pack after that.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week: Joseph Carofano
Carofano played a role in four of Union's seven goals over two matches last week, scoring once and adding three assists in a pair of Union wins. He assisted on two second-half tallies in Tuesday's 4-1 win at Morrisville State, helping to ensure the non-conference victory. He also contributed to the team's first two tallies on Saturday in a 3-1 win at Clarkson to open conference play, assisting on the match's first goal just 60 seconds into the game and then scoring his first collegiate goal in the 10th minute for the eventual game-winner.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week: Maddy Alecia
Alecia did not lose a game in singles or doubles play on Wednesday in Union's 7-0 win over Bard, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fourth singles flight before finishing the day with a 6-0 first-doubles win alongside classmate Loden Bradstreet.

Honor Roll Mentions:

Football: Jordan Black
Black had another big game on the defensive line on Saturday against Buffalo State, accumulating six tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one QB hurry in less than three quarters of action of the 63-14 win. His tackle stopped the Bengals short on fourth-and-two on the first drive of the game, and added a third-down sack late in the first half to give the ball back to the home team. His strip-sack led to a short field and a touchdown three plays later in the third quarter, his last action of the day.

Men's Rowing: Varsity 8+ Boat
Union's "A" boat, helmed by first-year coxswain Matthew Gaull, and complete with senior Tyler Perry (stroke), sophomore Thomas Unkles (seven seat), senior Stuart Livingston (six seat), sophomore Ben Grassi (five seat), senior Angus Hall (four seat), senior Wolfgang Bodge (three seat), junior Daniel Vega (two seat) and senior Reed Will (bow), placed fourth in the Collegiate 8+ Final at the Mohawk Fall Invite on Sunday. The Garnet Chargers were interfered with during the race but still crossed the line in 12:40.35 and less than two seconds away from a top-three finish. Gaull's eight also finished nearly 20 seconds clear of Binghamton, the Division I boat that placed fifth, and two minutes ahead of D-I University at Buffalo in seventh. 

Men's Soccer: Michael Karcher and Cauan Souza
Karcher made eight saves and allowed only one goal during the run of play in two Union victories last week. The first-year made two saves in each half in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Morrisville State, conceding only a penalty kick goal in the 59th minute. He came back with four more stops to backstop the Garnet Chargers to a 3-1 win over Clarkson in their conference opener on Saturday, denying the last four shots he faced after the home team scored an early tally.

Souza played a role in four of Union's seven goals over two matches last week, scoring once and adding three assists in a pair of Union wins. He assisted on the first two goals of the match in Tuesday's 4-1 win at Morrisville State, serving up a free kick and a corner kick that both were put into the net. He also contributed to the team's first two tallies on Saturday in a 3-1 win at Clarkson to open conference play, scoring his first collegiate goal just 60 seconds into the game and providing the primary assist on the eventual game-winning goal in the 10th minute.
