MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Union College field hockey team dropped an 8-0 match to NFHCA #7 Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon at Peter Kohn Field.
Union (1-1) hung with the nationally ranked Panthers in the opening quarter, as three saves by junior
Tess Parker helped the visitors keep the game scoreless. Middlebury (1-0) broke the game open in the middle two stanzas, however, scoring twice in the second quarter and four times in the third. Megan Fuqua had three goals and Emma McCann had four assists to lead the Panthers in the middle two frames.

Marion Stuntz turned aside nine saves over the final 27:44 of action as well for the visitors. Middlebury finished the afternoon with a 37-8 edge in shots.
Union will look to rebound next Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup against Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.
