Skidmore 10, Vassar 8

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Emma Harris and Spencer Morgan scored three goals each to lead Skidmore College to a 10-8 victory over Vassar College in a Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Semifinal Game Saturday at Frank Bailey Field on the campus of Union College. The Thoroughbreds improved to 13-4 and will face host Union at 3 p.m. Saturday in the league's championship game. The Brewers finish the season with a record of 10-6.

Tyler Phillips and Allison Byrne scored twice each for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore had a 28-14 shot advantage and was 11 for 13 on clears while forcing 16 turnovers. The Thoroughbreds also had 19 ground balls to Vassar's 14. Megan Kolopsky improved to 11-4 with the win by making three saves.

Isabelle Goldstein and Storm Sideleau led the Brewers with three goals each while Kim Mulvehill added two. Goldstein also had two assists, and Kate Pula made nine saves for Vassar. The Brewers forced 13 turnovers and went 11 for 16 on free positions.

Goldstein gave Vassar a 1-0 lead 8:35 into the game, but Skidmore tied it with 14:33 left in the first on Phillips' first of the day. The game remained that way with a defensive strong first half until Byrne gave the Thoroughbreds a 2-1 lead with 4:16 left, and Skidmore scored two more in the final 3:24 of the half for a 4-1 lead at the break.

Skikdmore led by as many as four at 7-3 after Harris notched her third of the day with 14:50 left. It was 10-5 after Morgan's 38th of the year gave Skidmore the five goal lead with 6:56 remaining. But Vassar stormed back with three goals in the final 2:08, the last coming by Goldstein with 1:34 left, before Skidmore held the ball in the final minutes to seal the victory.
