Williams Tops Eastern Connecticut in Sig Makofski Tournament
SCHENECTADY, NY - Williams College came from behind to defeat Eastern Connecticut State University in the first game of the Sig Makofski Tournament at Viniar Athletic Center in Schenectady, NY.
After trailing 44-39 at halftime, the Ephs scored 43 points in the second half to grab a 82-71 win in the opening game of the tournament. Their offense was paced by Daniel Aronowitz who scored 16 of his game high 28 points in the second half.
Williams also was able to hold Warriors guard Tarchee Brown to just four points in the second half. Brown netted 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the first half while converting on both of his free throw attempts. The Ephs defense held the Warriors to just 8-of-30 (26.7%) in the second half. Eastern Connecticut scored at a 63.3% clip, 19-of-30, in the first half.
Williams advances to the championship game of the Sig Makofski Tournament as it will play the winner of Union College and SUNY-Cobleskill at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday (Nov. 27). Eastern Connecticut will take on the loser of the Union/SUNY-Cobleskill game with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday (Nov. 27).
