Day 1 - August 9, 2019

Hello everyone! Assistant coach
Alicia Aragosa here reporting from the first "day" of our European field hockey adventure. Over the next few days, our girls will share a few snippets of each country, meal, game, clinic, and tourist event we have planned. So here's the first look:

The girls arrived to Boston's Logan Airport on Friday, which was where we reunited, weighed in our bags (attempting to keep them all under 50 lbs!), and boarded the flight to our first stop: Amsterdam.
After a long (and mostly sleepless) flight, we arrived. From the airport we traveled to see the Zaanse Schans windmills where we walked the grounds, saw the windmills, shook off our plane legs, and learned the history of wooden shoemaking. After we took our team picture (with the windmills of course), we hopped back on the bus and headed to Amsterdam for a boat tour along the canals.
The boat tour lead us through the canals of Amsterdam with just the right amount of information along the way. The girls then had the opportunity to get lunch and explore the city on their own. At this point, jet lag had hit us pretty hard and the bus to the Hague was a wonderful break. We settled into our hotel rooms and headed off to Leidschendam for our first of many team dinners and ice cream. Now a bit more full, comfortable and clean, we are ready for bed. Check back for more to come. Thanks for reading! Go UN1ON!
