Art McDonald returns for his 13th season with the Union College baseball team in 2023.
Along with head coach Paul Mound, McDonald has helped to guide the Dutchmen to the most prolific string of success in program history, including three Liberty League championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances, seven All-America selections, and the six highest single-season win totals in school history.
Before joining Mound at Union, McDonald served as an assistant coach and hitting instructor for the Saratoga Stampede. He assisted Mound in earning a record of 483-151 over his 12 seasons and helped to place players on college rosters and earn scholarships at the Division I and II levels.
McDonald and Mound have been coaching together for more than 20 years and coached the Saratoga Thunder Softball program while their daughters were in the program.
McDonald graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration. He currently resides in Saratoga Springs.
