Lacey French


Coach Lacey French’s eight seasons at Union have produced solid results as she has elevated the program to national prominence. The Dutchwomen have posted 10 or more victories in six straight seasons.

In 2010, French led Union to a successful season with a record of 10-8, six of those wins were at home. The 2010 team also qualified for the Liberty League Championship Tournament.

In 2008, Union won 14 games, the most in 20 seasons. The 1988 team holds the school record with 17 victories after a 17-1 season. The Dutchwomen competed in the Liberty League playoffs for the third time in four years. French guided the 2007 team to its best record in almost 20 years at 12-6 and her squad featured only four upperclassmen and included nine freshmen.
 
The 2006 team won 11 games, the 2005 squad produced 10 victories, and the 2004 Dutchwomen, who did not graduate a single player, produced six wins, five of which were by one goal.
 
A 2001 graduate of Skidmore College, where she earned a B.S. in exercise science, Coach French is entering her seventh season at the helm of the Dutchwomen’s program.
 
A standout performer for the Thoroughbreds throughout her college career, French was a two-year First-Team selection for both the Division III Field Hockey Regional and National All-American teams. Invited to participate in the North-South Senior All-Star team following her senior season, Coach French has also played for the England, Doncaster Field Hockey Club.
 
Prior to taking over the Dutchwomen's program, Lacey was an assistant at Middlebury College, helping the Panthers to an overall record of 20-11, including a New England Small College Athletic Conference standard of 11-4.
 
Coach French has worked at numerous professional camps including the Merestead Sports Camp, and various Nike Field Hockey Camps.

2010 10-8 qaulified for Liberty League Tournament.. sixth straight season with 10 or more victories. Tyler Willey named to Liberty League All-Star first team and three other players received honorable mention.
2009 10-8 qualified for Liberty League Tournament...fifth straight season with 10 or more victories.
2008 14-4 second most victories in program history... seven-game winning streak...first win over Williams in 10 years...Liberty League playoff berth...Anne Hanson named to NFHCA All-Region First Team.

2004 6-13 Won three-straight games in mid-October
2003 3-14 defeated Oneonta in double-overtime in season finale
