Avelone was named to the D3Football.com All-East Region Second Team in 2006, and also the Liberty League Second Team. He was a starter at center for the Dutchmen in the 2006 season, and Union allowed just 11 sacks in 10 games while also featuring the top running back in the Union school record books in Tom Arcidiacono.
