Kieran McGovern '22 returns for his second season as an assistant coach and first year in a full-time role with the Union College men's lacrosse team in 2026.
After taking a year off from lacrosse following graduation, McGovern first got into the coaching ranks at Bates College, working under head coach Dan Annino to help the Bobcats navigate a very challenging NESCAC schedule.Â
McGovern was a five-year member of the Union men's lacrosse team from 2018-22, helping to lead the program to new heights. As a senior, he scored a career-high 31 goals with 15 assists for 46 points to earn USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honorable mention, captaining the squad to a record-breaking 18-3 season and a spot in the NCAA Division III National Championship game. McGovern was a three-time All-Liberty League selection and a two-year team captain.
A Dean's List student and three-time Liberty League All-Academic Team honoree, McGovern graduated from Union in 2022 with a degree in political science.
McGovern was the second of four brothers to play lacrosse at Union, joined by his older brother Charlie (2016-20) and his younger brothers Liam (2021-25) and Mac (2025-present).
