Jeff Guinn completed his 24th season as head coach of the Union College men's soccer program in 2020.
In 2012, Guinn became the winningest coach in Union men's soccer history with his 149th victory and remains one of the most successful in department history, ranking seventh all-time in wins at the school with a 220-142-35 (.598) record in 23 seasons. He earned his 200th career victory on September 9, 2017, when the Dutchmen beat Western Connecticut State to win the CIAO Classic.
Union got off to an incredible start in 2019, winning its first eight games of the year to match the 2007 squad for the best start to a season in school history. Following the season, three players earned All-Liberty League honors led by first-team selection Salvador Lopez, Jr., who went on to be named to the USC All-East Region first team, his second career All-Region honor.
Guinn's 2005 squad was one of the best in school history, earning a program-record 17 wins in 22 matches and reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Dutchmen finished the regular season with a perfect 7-0-0 record in conference play while Guinn led the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year and a program-record eight Dutchmen that earned All-Conference honors.
In 2012, Coach Guinn had his first player named NSCAA All American as Sebastiaan Jansen received the honor, becoming just the fourth All-American in program history.
A native of nearby Delmar, New York, Coach Guinn is a graduate of Bethlehem High School and North Carolina State University. A four year starter, Guinn helped the Wolf Pack to four NCAA Tournaments. After his senior season in 1986, he was named Adidas Scholar All-American.
Coach Guinn went on to play professionally in the pre MLS era in the ASL, APSL, NPSL and USISL Leagues. His career highlights include playing in the 1988 APSL All Star Game and helping the Albany Capitals to the 1991 National Championship series.
Coach Guinn hold the US Soccer Federation's "A" License and was the assistant coach at Brown University for two seasons. The Bears won the Ivy League Championship and went on to an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal appearance in 1995.
