Dylan Davis finished his third season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Union College men's and women's tennis teams in 2024-25.
Davis was part of the Liberty League Women's Tennis Co-Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023-24 after guiding Union to the best season in program history, winning a program-record 11 matches and earning the program's first postseason victory since 2003 with a thrilling 5-4 win over St. Lawrence in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament. The team, which started six first-years or sophomores on a consistent basis, also earned the first ITA national ranking in program history and was listed in every NCAA regional ranking during the spring season. In addition, the men's tennis doubles tandem of Ben Jacobs and Dimitris Binopoulos ended the season regionally ranked by the NCAA, while Jacobs finished "in consideration" for a regional ranking in singles play.
In his first season with the program in 2022-23, both men's and women's teams qualified for the Liberty League Tournament. The women's team matched the program record for wins in a season with nine while posting a 5-3 record in Liberty League play to earn the program's highest-ever conference finish, while the men's team qualified for the postseason for the third straight full season and finished one win shy of the program record of eight set back in 1974.
A private instructor with more than 25 years of teaching experience, Davis most recently served as the head coach of the Bethlehem Central School District boys' junior varsity team in 2021 and 2022, and also has been an assistant with the girls' and boys' varsity teams since 2015. He also has served as a USTA Junior Team Tennis captain and coach, and was named the USTA Eastern Volunteer of the Year in 2022.
Outside of coach, Davis also competes in USTA and World Team Tennis leagues.
Davis played four years of tennis at Michigan Technological University and earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the school in 1990. He also earned a master's in business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003.
