Abby Arceneaux

Abby Arceneaux, one of the greatest pitchers in the illustrious history of Union College softball, serves as an assistant to head coach Jordan Stevens.

Arceneaux has previously coached the Dutchwomen during the fall season and has also been an assistant for two seasons during the spring season. She served as an assistant on the Cornell University staff during the 2009 season.

Arceneaux received her degree in psychology from Union in 2006, where she played softball for four years while receiving multiple league, ECAC and NCAA honors. She attained All-America status at the Division III level after ranking nationally in both pitching in hitting. Arceneaux was first-team All-Liberty league all four years and was named Player of the Year in 2004. She led her team to the NCAA tournament every season and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team. Team captain her junior and senior seasons, she was the NCAA Division III toughest player to strikeout with no strikeouts in over 125 at bats in her senior campaign. That same season, Arceneaux held a 17-6 record on the mound with a 2.22 earned run average. Her 65 hits that spring remain a Union record for hits in a season.

Arceneaux ended her career as the all-time Union career leader in wins (57), innings pitched (460), and strikeouts (463). She is fourth in hits (186), fifth in batting average (.411) and ninth in doubles (23).

At Mechanicsville High, Arceneaux has worked as a substitute teacher and assisted with the softball program. During her playing days, she led Mechanicsville to three New York State championships and was a two-time New York State Class “C” Player of the Year. Arceneaux has also been a pitching and hitting instructor at Warning Track Academy in Malta, N.Y. and at All-Stars Academy in Troy, N.Y.
