Ashley Johnston joins the Dutchwomen coaching staff under Claudia Asano Barcomb for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
Johnston, a recent 2014 graduate from Union College, played in 130 career games for the Dutchwomen and served as one of the team’s two captains during her senior season. During her playing career she tallied 14 assists and five goals for 19 career points. Johnston was selected to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Teams all four years and in 2014, she received an award for Community Service and Outreach at the annual department Senior Appreciation Awards Event. Johnston was also named a candidate for the Hockey Humanitarian Award.
She was also one of four student athletes from across the United States to participate in this year’s NCAA Final Four Innovation Summit. Johnston was joined by other student athlete innovators from Stanford and Princeton. The second annual Final Four Innovation Summit is an exclusive, invite-only event to celebrate those who are pushing the boundaries of innovation – from students and student-athletes who represent the next generation of leading innovators, to high-profile business leaders who began their path towards innovation while in school.  The Summit showcased select college students and high-profile executives who are pursuing ground-breaking innovations in dynamic industries, such as sports, health/wellness, emerging media, and technology.
Since graduation, Ashley has been working as a project engineer at PVA and plans on pursuing her master’s in mechanical engineering starting in the winter.Â
