Alyssa Treanor finished her fourth season at the helm of the Union College women's lacrosse program and ninth season overall with Union in 2026.

Treanor increased the team's win total for the third straight season with an excellent 2026 campaign, which saw the Garnet Chargers post a 14-7 (9-1 Liberty League) record to reach the conference title game for the second straight year and earn the program's first NCAA Tournament berth since 2015. Six of the team's seven defeats came against nationally ranked opposition as part of a schedule that placed the team 27th nationally in NPI. The team followed up with its first NCAA win since 2009 with a 21-5 victory over Mount Union in the first round that reset program records for most goals scored, fewest goals allowed and largest margin of victory in an NCAA Tournament game. The squad placed four players on the IWLCA All-Empire Region teams after the season, marking the most All-Region honorees for the team since 2010.

Treanor led the program to one of the best seasons in recent program history in 2025, finishing the year with a 13-4 record and earning an IWLCA national ranking late in the season on the way to a berth in the Liberty League Championship game for the first time in a decade. The team earned a pair of wins over nationally ranked opponents while hosting and winning a postseason game for the third straight season. The team saw a pair of players earn IWLCA All-Region recognition for the second straight season, with Gillian Joseph earning first-team honors and Greta Maurer earning a spot on the second team.

Treanor guided Union to a second straight 11-6 season in 2024, becoming the first coach in program history to reach the 11-win mark in both of their first two seasons leading the women's lacrosse team. A pair of players earned IWLCA All-Region recognition, including Liberty League Rookie of the Year Gillian Joseph. All six of the team's losses in 2024 came to NCAA Tournament teams, including five nationally ranked squads and a pair of eventual national quarterfinalists,

Treanor's first season back on the Union sideline was similarly successful in 2023, leading the team to a spot in the Liberty League Tournament semifinals. Union hosted a conference tournament game for the first time since 2015 and came away with a thrilling 12-11 first-round victory over Rensselaer, and then stayed within four goals of national semifinalist William Smith in the conference semifinals. Four Union players earned All-Liberty League honors after the season, led by first-year goalie Sydney Widlitz, who went on to earn IWLCA All-Region first-team honors as well.

She spent three years with the Union from 2016-18 before returning to the sidelines for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, working primarily with the team’s attackers and draw specialists. Before returning to Schenectady as head coach, Treanor served one year as head coach of the women’s lacrosse program at Russell Sage College in 2022, guiding the team to a 5-8 record, with three Gators earning weekly Empire 8 Player of the Week honors and a pair earning All-Empire 8 honors at the conclusion of the season.

Active on the local club lacrosse scene, Treanor previously coached for ADK Lacrosse and the Albany Elite Lacrosse Club. Her team won the Harvard Invitational Tournament in the summer of 2015.

As an undergraduate, Treanor was a four-year starter at Siena College and led the Saints to three MAAC playoff appearances. She was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2012 and earned All-MAAC second-team honors in her senior season, when she ranked second on the team in points with 31 goals and nine assists. Treanor ended her career ranked ninth all-time in career points and fifth in career assists at Siena, having recorded 77 goals with 33 assists in four seasons. She graduated from Siena in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in history.

Treanor’s roots in the Capital District extend even further back to her time as a three-sport varsity athlete at Niskayuna High School, lettering in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. She made the Section 2 Lacrosse All Star Team and her teams won three sectional lacrosse titles. Her father, Mark, coached boys’ basketball at Niskayuna for over 20 years and recently finished his ninth season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Union. Her sister, Kayla, was a member of the U.S. National Team and is the head women’s lacrosse coach at Penn State University.
