Erika Van Zandt

Erika Van Zandt completed her fifth season as an assistant coach with the Union College women's soccer team in 2019. Van Zandt primarily assists in coaching the goalkeepers and field players.

Van Zandt has coached at three different NCAA schools, spending seven years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2006-08, 2011-14), two years at Bard College (2009-10) and one season at Division I Marist College (2005).

In addition, she has worked with the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program and two Premier Soccer Clubs (Alleycats and Shenentaha).

Van Zandt played four seasons at the University of Albany (2000-2003), serving as team captain her senior campaign.  She finished as the school's all-time leader in save percentage and second in saves. She also competed in tennis, receiving the team's most improved player award in 2004.  

Van Zandt captured three gold medals and two silvers at the Empire State Games and led Capital United Premier to a New York State Championship. After college, Van Zandt spent a season as starting goalkeeper for the Albany Blackwatch of the semi-pro W League.

A Troy native, Van Zandt graduated with a B.A. in history from UAlbany in 2004.  

Van Zandt owns a NSCAA National Diploma and a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level III Diploma. She resides in Cohoes, N.Y.
