Prior to his time as head coach, Walsh spent a year as an assistant coach with the Golden Knights, where he organized engaging practices and community events that fostered a positive and inclusive team culture. He also previously served as an assistant coach at the Capital District YMCA in East Greenbush for four years.

Walsh is a current Ph.D. student at the University at Albany where he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction. As a double graduate of Saint Rose, he earned a Masters of Science in Adolescence Education degree from The College of Saint Rose in 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 2015.
