Nicole Otero completed her first season as an assistant coach with the Union College women’s volleyball team in 2019.
Otero comes to Union from the University at Albany, where she was a four-year letterwinner on the volleyball court for the Division I Great Danes. As a libero, she was named the America East Conference Defensive Specialist of the Year three times, one of only three players ever to be recognized on three occasions, and was a two-time selection to the All-America East first team (2017-18) and All-America East second team (2015-16). A three-time team Most Valuable Player, Otero finished her career third all-time in digs at UAlbany with 1,891 and was an America East Defensive Player of the Week an amazing 18 times in four years.
A former member of the Puerto Rico U20 national team, Otero earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University at Albany in 2019.
