After a four-year career on the courts for Union College, Aidan O'Brien '23 finished his second season as an assistant coach with the Union men's and women's tennis teams in 2024-25.

O'Brien was part of the Liberty League Women's Tennis Co-Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023-24 after guiding Union to the best season in program history, winning a program-record 11 matches and earning the program's first postseason victory since 2003 with a thrilling 5-4 win over St. Lawrence in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament. The team, which started six first-years or sophomores on a consistent basis, also earned the first ITA national ranking in program history and was listed in every NCAA regional ranking during the spring season.  In addition, the men's tennis doubles tandem of Ben Jacobs and Dimitris Binopoulos ended the season regionally ranked by the NCAA, while Jacobs finished "in consideration" for a regional ranking in singles play.

O'Brien spent time at first, second, third and fourth singles during his career on the court at Union, earning 20 singles victories and 17 doubles wins over his time in Schenectady. He won a career-best nine singles matches and added six doubles wins as a senior co-captain in 2022-23 and also recorded 15 wins during his junior season.

A chemistry and psychology double major at Union, O'Brien was a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete pick, a three-time Liberty League Academic Team selection, and a CSC Academic All-District honoree as a senior. Union's Junior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022, he is currently in his first year studying at Albany Medical College as part of the Leadership in Medicine program he started as an undergraduate.
