Erin (Gehen) Zannella returns for her second year as Union College's Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Ticketing in 2025-26.
In her position, Zannella oversees all compliance efforts for Union's 26 Division I and Division III sports and also manages the ticketing operations for Union hockey and football games, among other departmental roles.
Zannella came to Schenectady after six-plus years at Elmira College, where she served in various roles. In three-plus years as Associate Director of Athletics, Compliance Officer and Senior Woman Administrator, she oversaw all business operations for the Athletic Department, led the department's compliance management, and had direct oversight and management of athletics staff and 17 intercollegiate sports programs. She also played an active role in directing intramural offerings, overseeing camp and clinic administration, and scheduling games and practices for all sports. She previously spent three years at Elmira working as an Accounting Supervisor, Accounts Payable Specialist and Student Accounts Representative.
Zannella graduated from Buffalo State in 2018 with a degree in business administration and played four years on the women's hockey team for the Bengals. She is the program's all-time leader in goals (54), assists (41), points (95), shorthanded goals (7) and games played (104) and was a three-time All-Conference selection, earning All-ECAC West honorable mention as a sophomore before picking up second-team honors from the ECAC West as a junior and the NEWHL as a senior.Â
After graduation, she spent three years playing for the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League and Premier Hockey Federation, recording eight goals and nine assists in 47 games. She also served six years as a volunteer assistant coach with the Elmira women's hockey program and received a master's degree in management from Elmira in 2020.
