John Carroll was named the head coach of the Union College women’s volleyball program in March 2026 and will begin his first season at the helm of the program in the fall.
Carroll comes to Union after serving as the head coach for both the women’s and men’s programs at Sarah Lawrence College for the last three years. In his time in Bronxville, he helped the women’s team to back-to-back Skyline Conference semifinal appearances and was named the Skyline Coach of the Year in 2024, posting a combined 45-35 record and mentoring eight All-Skyline selections in three seasons. Off the court, every member of the women’s team was named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll in two of his three years as well. Carroll also became the winningest men’s volleyball coach in the program’s short history, guiding the program to 30 wins in almost three full seasons at the helm.
Prior to his time at Sarah Lawrence, Carroll spent two years as an assistant coach with both the women’s and men’s teams at Regis College from 2021-23 and one year as the lead assistant coach at Bethany College in 2020-21.
Carroll earned his bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College in 2020, following a four-year career with the Saints. He was a four-year starter on the court and ranks fourth in program history in hitting percentage. Carroll also earned a master’s of education in student success from Regis in 2023.
