Malick Diomonde returns for his second season overall and his first year as a full-time assistant coach with the Union College men's and women's track & field teams in 2025-26.
In his first year with the program, seven school sprinting records were broken as part of another successful season for the track programs. On the men's side, senior Sam Ahern broke the school marks in both the indoor and outdoor 200m as well as the indoor 60m, and became the program's first sprinter to qualify for the NCAA Championships in two decades. The men also saw the school 60m and 100m hurdles marks reset again by junior Jason Bois. For the women, senior Gabby Baker took down the indoor 300m record and sophomore Kat Doran reset the outdoor 100m mark.
Diomonde previous spent two years as the head coach of the track & field teams at Bethlehem Central High School, guiding several athletes to Division I programs while developing and supervising a team of 150 athletes at his hometown school.
Diomonde competed collegiately at Cornell University, spending four years on the track & field team with the Big Red from 2016-21 and captaining the team in both of his last two years. He qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in the high jump in 2019 and currently boasts the 10th-best high jump mark in program history. He graduated from Cornell in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in political science.
