Mark Treanor finished his eighth season as an assistant coach with the Union College men's basketball team in 2024-25.
Treanor's time in Schenectady has coincided with some of the best seasons in Union basketball history, including the second of two straight Liberty League Tournament championships and appearances in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2018. As part of the 2018 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year, Union went 19-9 and captured a second straight Liberty League Tournament title. The 19 victories are tied for seventh-most in a single season at Union.
Treanor coached the boys' basketball team at Niskayuna High School for more than 20 years before coming to Union. His older daughter Alyssa is in her third season as the head coach of the Union women's lacrosse team, while her younger daughter Kayla is the head women's lacrosse coach at Syracuse University.
