Mike Bergin

Mike Bergin joined the Union College men's hockey staff as an assistant coach in 2026-27. 

Bergin spent nine seasons at Skidmore College from 2017-18 to 2025-26, serving as a volunteer assistant, assistant coach and associate head coach. His responsibilities included recruiting, skills development, practice planning, game strategy and video coordination.

Bergin played three seasons with the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL from 2015-18, appearing in 146 regular-season and playoff games and recording 23 points on five goals and 18 assists. He served as team captain and helped the Thunder win back-to-back division titles in 2017 and 2018. He also played for the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL and Södertälje SK in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan.

A seventh-round selection by the Dallas Stars in the 2008 NHL Draft, Bergin played four seasons at Rensselaer from 2008-12. He appeared in 107 games, totaling 40 points on nine goals and 31 assists, and helped lead the Engineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011. A four-time ECAC All-Academic Team selection, he was named RPI's Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player in 2012. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and management in 2012 as well.

Bergin played junior hockey with the Smiths Falls Bears of the CJHL and the Perth Blue Wings of the EOJHL. The Ottawa, Ontario, native earned Rookie of the Year honors in both leagues and was named a Second Team All-CJHL selection in 2008.

In addition to his coaching experience, Bergin has worked as an instructor at P2 Hockey Camp in Clifton Park and Bell SensPlex Hockey Camp in Kanata, Ontario.
