Rachel Colfer ’09 finished her fifth season as an assistant coach with the Union College women’s basketball team in 2025-26.

Union has reached the postseason in all five of her seasons on the sidelines of her alma mater, including a pair of conference tournament semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2024 and a conference championship in 2026. 

Colfer was a part of the team's record-setting 2025-26 campaign, which saw the Garnet Chargers post a 22-6 record - tied for the second-most wins in a season in program history - and sweep the Liberty League regular-season and tournament championships for the second time ever. Union captured the program's second conference tournament title and first since 2004, while the staff was recognized as the D3hoops.com Region 3 Coaching Staff of the Year and the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. Individually, senior Jelena Perovic was named a WBCA All-America honorable mention and earned D3hoops.com All-Region honors alongside sophomore Olivia Cunningham, with the pair also honored as the Liberty League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.
 
A four-year member of the women’s basketball team at Union, Colfer (née Scott) started all 26 games and averaged over 24 minutes per game at guard as a senior captain, ranking second on the team in three-pointers made (34) and averaging 7.7 points per contest in helping the team to a 19-7 record. She played in 86 games over her four-year career and ranks third in school history in three-point field-goal percentage (.368) and 15th in three-pointers made. The team went 63-38 during her four seasons in Schenectady.
 
Colfer graduated from Union in 2009 and received a master’s degree from Albany Medical College in 2014.
