Scott Felix completed his 20th season as head coach of the Union College men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in 2020-21.

Under Felix’s leadership, Union swimming & diving has proven to be a strong program in the Liberty League and at the national level. The men's team has scored 15 times and the women's team has scored nine times at the NCAA Div. III Championships as well as earning a combined four New York State championships and four Liberty League titles. In 2005, Felix led Union to a sweep of the men's and women's state titles, marking only the second time that one coach had his team capture both titles in the same season.

Since the 2001-02 season, 31 individuals and eight relays have earned All-America recognition under Felix's tenure, including 11 All-America first-team honorees and one national champion (Elliot Seguin, who won the 100 freestyle in 2005).

In 2002-03, the Dutchmen finished 14th of 46 teams at the NCAA Championships by scoring 91 points, the sixth-highest point total in school history. Union earned two All-American first-team honors and came away with six honorable mention All-American awards. The previous season saw the Dutchmen finish 21st nationally with 46.5 points by capturing six honorable mention awards.

The Dutchwomen finished 32nd at the NCAA Championships in 2006-07, capping a season in which the team swept the Liberty League and NYSWCAA State championships and a pair of Union competitors (Molly Freeman and Sydnie Wells) earned All-America first-team recognition. That year also saw Felix earn his first of three Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year awards as well as his second NYSWCAA Coach of the Year honor.

Prior to coming to Union, Felix spent three years as an assistant coach at West Point and served a stint as the interim head coach. He helped the Black Knights men’s team win the Patriot League championship in both 2000 and 2001. During his tenure at Army, the women’s squad set a team and conference record in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes while the men set team and conference records in the 200 breaststroke as well as in the 200 IM.

Felix, who was also an assistant at West Point during the 1993-94 season, was an assistant at Springfield College for two years (1994 through 1996) before taking over as the head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan from 1996-98, coaching the Bobcats’ men’s and women’s teams to NCAA Championship appearances each year. He coached six NCAA Division II All-Americans and six honorable mention All-Americans while leading the Bobcats’ women’s team to the Penn-Ohio and the WVIAC championships in 1997, earning him the “Women’s Coach of the Year” award. A total of 15 school records were claimed during his tenure.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Delaware, Felix was a two-year team captain and helped the Blue Hens to a pair of East Coast Conference championships while graduating with the school record in the 400 IM. He earned his masters of science degree in exercise physiology from Springfield College in 1996.
