Brent Booth, Scott Seney and Jon Poirier each scored a goal and Kris Mayotte kicked out 23 of the 24 shots he saw as the Dutchmen successfully opened their 2003-04 home opener.

The evening started with a dedication of the recently renovated rink. Completed in 1975 with contributions of H. Laurence Achilles, the renovation was made possible with a gift from Frank L. Messa, Class of 1973. The facility will now be known as the Frank L. Messa Rink at the Achilles Center.

Booth's shorthanded goal broke a 0-0 tie 35 seconds into the final period. Merrimack tied the game at 4:07 before Scott Seney's power play tally 51 seconds later proved to be the game-winner. Jon Poirier's first goal of the season came with 13:58 remaining.

Matt Vagvolgyi picked up a pair of assists.
