The Dutchmen opened their home ECAC play on Friday night with a 1-1 overtime tie with Dartmouth at the Frank L. Messa Rink at the Achilles Center.

The game was scoreless until the third period when Dartmouths Mike Wheelihan scored his second goal of the season from Mike Turner and Jason Costa at 5:56 of the third period. Union answered back less than four minutes later at 9:50 on the power play on junior Matt Vagvolgyis second goal of the young season from Brian Kerr, who picked up his second assist of the campaign.

Union dominated the five-minute overtime period as the Dutchmen registered three shots on goal including a shot from senior Brent Booth that clanked off the post. Dartmouth did not have a shot on goal in the overtime period.

Sophomore goaltender, Chris Mayotte made 31 saves on the 32 shots and Dartmouths Dan Yacey made 21 saves on 22 shots. The Dutchmen improve to 6-2-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in ECAC play while Dartmouth owns 2-0-2 overall mark, 1-0-2 in conference play.
