SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Cassandra Mariani scored a pair of first-period goals and Union's defense did not give up a single shot on goal as the Dutchwomen defeated Russell Sage, 4-0, in a non-league women's soccer game on Garis Field.  The win improved Union's record to 7-1-1 while the Gators fell to 5-4.

Mariani picked up her second game-winner of the season when she took a feed from Brittany Cressman and put the ball past Gator goaltender Schuyler Kokernak with just 5:38 gone in the game.  Erika Eisenhut made it 2-0 under a minute later before Mariani's team-leading sixth goal of the year gave the Dutchwomen a 3-0 lead with 38:11 left to play in the opening half.  Defender Jen Ondash scored her first goal of the season with 43:18 left to play to round out the final margin.

Union goaltender Julie Gawronski picked up her seventh shutout of the season and the 17^th of her career.  Gawronski now has an overall career record of 32-5-2.  Kokernak, a freshman, stopped seven shots for the Gators.
