Box ScoreSchenectady, NY (Oct. 8, 2004) The Union women's soccer team took a step toward the top of the Liberty League standings by handling St. Lawrence in a 4-1 win at home Friday evening. Senior Brittany Cressman (Duxbury, Mass.) led the charge for the Dutchwomen with two goals and two assists to give the Saints their first league loss of the season. The win was Union's fourth in five games.
Cressman struck first for Union with a goal in just the third minute after gaining possession off a botched goal kick. She tucked the ball into the far post past the outstretched arms of St. Lawrence goalkeeper Carly Draper. Cressman scored what proved to be the game-winner 26 minutes later, putting home a cross from Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY).
Union added two more goals in the second half for a commanding four-goal advantage with tallies from Jenna Ondash (New Canaan, Conn.) and Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.). Ondash blasted in a pass that came off a rebound shot that Draper was unable to collect. Cuozzo knocked home a half-volley from inside the penalty box. Both passes came off the foot of Cressman.
Union improved to 8-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the Liberty League. They will host Clarkson in another pivotal conference matchup on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
