(13-6-0, 6-4-0) defeated the Union College Dutchwomen 5-0 at Messa Rink
this afternoon in ECAC women's hockey action. The loss drops the
Dutchwomen to 3-21-1, 0-9-0 on the season. Senior Gretchen Anderson
(Natick, Massachusetts) picked up the hat trick for the Tigers, scoring
a single goal in each period. The three goals give Anderson 23 for the
season.
Princeton took a 3-0 lead after one period on goals by junior Becky
Stewart (4) at 2:19, Anderson at 2:46 and freshman Laura Watt (5) at
6:28. Junior April Brown, senior Angela Gooldy, sophomore Heather
Jackson and junior Katharine Maglio picked up assists in the period for
Princeton. Gooldy picked up her second assist of the game, and 10th of
the season, on Anderson's third period goal to complete the scoring for
the Tigers.
Freshman goaltender Mandy Hanson (Brainerd, Massachusetts) made 59 saves
in the loss for Union as the Tigers out shot the Dutchwomen 64-14 in the
game. Hanson is now 1-9 on the season. Princeton sophomore Roxanne
Gaudiel (Venice, Florida) made 14 saves in the shutout and improved to
4-0 on the season.
The Dutchwomen will return to action at Messa Rink on tomorrow afternoon
at 2:00 pm versus Princeton in the second game of the weekend series.
