DANBURY, Conn. – Union College women's hockey junior Karianne Engelbert has been named the High Peaks Resort Forward of the Week for the week ending November 2, as announced by the ECAC Hockey office Tuesday morning. Engelbert earned her first weekly award of the season after recording a career-best five points (three goals, two assists) on Friday, October 30th, helping lead Union to a thrilling 5-4 overtime comeback victory over No. 14 Cornell.

Engelbert tied Union's Division I single-game record with five points, becoming the first player in program history to record a hat trick as part of a five-point game and the first to reach five points against a nationally ranked opponent.  Engelbert made an immediate impact on the offensive end, scoring Union's first goal of the afternoon on the power play in the second period. She later helped set up Megan Duplantie's goal, which brought the Chargers within one heading into the third period. Engelbert continued to lead the offensive charge in the final frame, scoring twice to help Union erase multiple deficits and even the score at 4-4. With the game tied and overtime underway, Engelbert continued to make an impact. She forced a turnover in the offensive zone and sent a shot toward the net that deflected to senior Maddie Leaney, who buried the game-winning goal with just four seconds remaining to complete the comeback.

Through three seasons with Union, Engelbert has totaled 67 career points, including 39 goals and 28 assists, continuing to establish herself as one of the Garnet Chargers' top offensive threats.

The Union College women's hockey team returns to action tonight, traveling across the river for a Route 7 rivalry matchup against RPI at 6 p.m. Union will then return home to the M&T Bank Center for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups, hosting St. Lawrence on Friday, November 6, before welcoming another nationally ranked opponent, No. 9 Clarkson, on Saturday, November 7, at 3 p.m.
