The women's lacrosse team, which finished the regular season with a record of 13-4, has been seeded second in the upcoming Eastern College Athletic Conference's Mid-Atlantic Championship Tournament. The Dutchwomen will host seventh-seeded Geneseo (10-4) Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 on Frank Bailey Field.
This is the first time that the Dutchwomen have qualified for the ECAC event.Union, which has been to the NCAA tournament twice, missed its third trip to the national event when it lost to William Smith, 9-8, in last Sunday's Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournament.
The Dutchwomen are led by junior midfielder Molly Flanagan, who leads the team with 61 goals, 20 assists and 81 points. Classmate Kathy Dolezal is second with 41-4-46 while senior Julia Davis has contributed 30-3-33.
Sophomore goaltenders Rachel Beckman and Corey Bralower have combined to produce a goals against average of 9.07 with a save percentage of 50.2.
Drew University (13-4) is the ECAC event's No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Oneonta (10-6) on Wednesday. Skidmore (9-5) drew the No. 3 position and hosts No. 6 Stevens (15-2) while No. 4 Franklin and Marshall (10-7) hosts No. 5McDaniel.
The semi-finals and finals will be held Saturday with the championship scheduled for Sunday at the highest remaining seed after Wednesday's games. The semi-finals will be played at 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. with the championship scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
