SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Freshmen Ali Grant and Nicole Tetreault each scored a goal and classmate goaltender Caitlin McGilley made them stand up with a 13-save performance as Hamilton defeated Union, 2-1, in a Liberty League women's soccer game on Garis Field.
The win improved the Continentals' record to 1-0-1 in the league and 4-0-1 while the loss was the first for the Dutchwomen in eight overall games. Union is 1-1 in the circuit.
Grant gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally with 38:17 showing in the first half before Union freshman Danielle Pamarole scored her first collegiate goal with 33 seconds left to tie the game at 1-1. Tetreault scored off a pass from Sarah Felder with 28:53 for the game-winner as McGilley stopped all seven shots she faced over the game's final 45 minutes.
Hamilton's two tallies were the first given up by Union junior netminder Julie Gawronski, who made two saves.
