Schenectady, NY (Jan. 21, 2005) Fifth-ranked St. Lawrence eased out to a 2-0 first period lead and then exploded for four goals in the second to put the game out of reach en route to an 8-2 ECACHL road win.  The Saints improved to 16-4-3 on the campaign, 6-2-1 in league play with the win.  The Dutchwomen, which dropped their fifteenth straight contest, fell to 3-17-1 overall, 0-11-0 in conference play.

Whitney Carbone lit up the scoreboard just under two minutes into the game for the Saints, while Christin Powers scored the first of her two goals to close out the first period scoring.  St. Lawrence peppered Union goaltender Amanda Hansen (Brainerd, MN), who made 46 stops between the pipes, to the tune of 17 shots in the opening period and 54 for the game.  The Dutchwomen got off just 2, 5, and 4 shots in each period, respectively.

After a power play goal by Crystal Connors and a short-handed netter by Rebecca Russell, the Dutchwomen got on the board when Maeve Kehoe (Chelsea, QUE) notched her first goal of the season on an unassisted goal, bringing the Dutchwomen to within 4-1.  However, St. Lawrence responded with Powers' second goal just 51 seconds later to take a 5-1 lead to the intermission.

Casey Hughes, Laurie Ross and Elisabeth Pahler bumped the lead to 8-1 when they each scored within one minute and 17 seconds of each other in the opening minutes of the third period, putting the game safely out of reach.  Union freshman Stephanie Armstrong (Stoneham, MA) deposited her third goal of the season at the 12:52 mark for the game's final mark.

The Dutchwomen will take to the ice against the Saints once again tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
