Freshman Dale Chaput (Burlington, ONT) scored her first collegiate goal to cut the Dutchwomen deficit to one but the Terriers responded with a pair of power play goals over the final two periods.
Genevieve Laing scored her second goal of the season at 1:58 of the first period to give the host team the early lead. Jessica Lortie was credited with the assist. Cara Hendry extended the lead 1:16 into the second period with a power play goal that snuck past Union goaltender Amanda Hanson (Brainerd, MN). It was Hendry's first goal of the season.
Chaput made it 2-1 at 4:47 with a power play goal, stuffing the puck past Boston University goaltender Allyse Wilcox after taking a feed from Elise Nichols (Pittsfield, MA).
That was as close as Union got though. Amanda Shaw scored for Boston on the power play at 10:44 of the second period and Gina Kearns wrapped things up at 17:41 of the third after Union received an interference penalty.
Hanson finished with 23 saves for Union while Wilcox made 29 in a tightly contested game.
Boston University finished 3-for-5 on the power play and Union was 1-for-6.
The Dutchwomen will tangle with the Terriers one more time in a 2:00 p.m. matchup tomorrow.
