Box ScoreSCHENECTADY, NY-- Union posted a 2-1 men's soccer victory against Skidmore College Saturday night at College Park Field. The Dutchmen improved to 10-2-1 and are undefeated in 12 of the last 13 games.
Union improved to 12-2-1, 6-0-0 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore fell to a 8-3-2, 2-2-1 in league play.
The first goal of the game went to Union with senior Ryan McAleese (Walpole, MA/ Walpole) heading it in. The goal scored at 39:23 in the second half with McAleese's header off a direct kick from Craig Williams (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa) right over the head of Skidmore's keeper Jake Densen (Summit, NJ/ Summit).
Union connected again with senior Mark Susko (Short Hills, NJ/ Pingry School) making a cross to Casey Ftorek (Bedford,MA/ Taft School) who tapped the ball in with 3:39 left in play in the second half.
The Thoroughbreds' Pat Phelan (Wallingford, CT/ Choate Rosemary Hall) scored their only goal, assisted by Pete Brownell (Ridgewood, NJ/ Ridgewood) with 2:22 left in the second half.
Union keeper, Rob Kramer (Westport, CT/Staples), finished with eight saves while Skidmore's Densen finished with seven. The Dutchmen outshot Skidmore 18-12 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Union is at home again on Friday, October 21 to host Clarkson for a 4 p.m. Liberty League game.
