UTICA, N.Y. -- Union broke a 1-1 tie on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward Chris Poey (Amherst, MA/Amherst Regional) at the 57:34 mark en route to a 3-1 victory over Utica in men's soccer action held at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Wednesday night. Union improves to 14-2-1. The Dutchmen have won seven straight. The hosts fell to 5-8-2.

Sophomore midfielder Jon Bellock (Manchester, CT/Loomis Chaffee) closed out the game's scoring with an unassisted goal off of a free kick that deflected off a bunch of players and found its' way into the goal at the 86:02 mark. Senior midfielder Justin Merolla (Larchmont, NY/Mamaronek) gave Union a 1-0 lead at 43:37 after scoring off an assist from sophomore forward Casey Ftorek (Bedford, MA/Taft School), this week's Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week.

Sophomore forward Evan Dufault accounted for the Pioneers' only goal of the night, scoring unassisted on a breakaway situation less than one minute into the second half at 45:37 which forced the 1-1 tie.

Union, which will host the Liberty League Tournament November 4-5, closes out the regular season Saturday at home against Nazareth at 3 p.m.
