Box ScoreSchenectady, NY (Oct. 7, 2005) - Union won for the eighth time of the season 3 - 1 over Hamilton College Friday afternoon at College Park Field. Sophomore Casey Ftorek (Bedford, MA/Taft School) had one goal and one assist to lead the Dutchmen. Union improved to 8-2-1, 3-0-0 in Liberty League play, while Hamilton fell to 5-3-1, 1-2-1 in the league.
Scoring opened up in the 6th minute with sophomore Chris Poey (Amherst, MA/Amherst Regional) who sent the ball just past Hamilton keeper Anthony Tripicchio (Clark, NY/Pingry School) from 15 yards out. Ftorek was next at 18:54, dribbling through defenders to send one low for a 2-0 Union lead.
Hamilton didn't take long to answer, however, with a score in the 23rd minute by Bob Barrowman (Glenmont,NY/Bethlehem Central High School) off of a feed by Greg Scott (Harvard, MA/The Bromfield School) from the right corner.
The final goal for the Dutchmen came from a scramble in front of the net. Ftorek laid the ball out, allowing junior Hugo Fernandez-Davila (Latham, NY/Champagnat) to send it home in the 67th minute. Union's Rob Kramer (Westport, CT/Staples) finished with three saves and the win. Hamilton's Tripicchio had three saves in over 71 minutes of play, while Anthony Carello (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa Central HS) had two saves and did not allow any goals in over 18 minutes of play.
Union outshot Hamilton 13-9, allowing only three in the second half. Hamilton had a 4-3 advantage in corners.
Union is home again on Saturday, October 8 hosting Hobart for a 2 p.m. Liberty League match.
