Box Score

Cambridge, MA (Dec. 2, 2005) Six different players scored as 10th-ranked Harvard blanked Union 6-0 in ECACHL women's hockey action at Bright Hockey Center. Freshman goaltender Alex Zirbel (Clearwater, FL) made a career-high 51 saves for Union who lost their third straight, falling to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Crimson finished with a 57-9 advantage in shots.

Harvard got all the offense it would need in the first period as junior Liza Solley and freshman Sarah Wilson scored goals
1:19 apart midway through the period.

Union's best chance to cut into the lead came early in the second period as the Dutchwomen had a five-on-three advantage for two minutes. But Harvard goaltender Emily Vitt turned aside three of her four second-period saves in that early stretch, keeping the Crimson's lead intact.

Harvard took advantage of a five-on-three situation of its own when junior Katie Johnston ripped a shot past Union goaltender Alex Zirbel at
5:47 of the second period. Senior Jennifer Raimondi added a power play goal with 46 seconds left in the period to give the Crimson a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Sophomore Laura Brady made it 5-0 midway through the third period, and freshman defenseman Lauren Herrington completed the scoring with her first collegiate goal when she slapped a shot past Zirbel at the 12:55 mark.

Vitt, meanwhile, wasn't tested often, though she did turn aside all nine shots she faced to pick up her first win of the season.

Raimondi finished with a game-high three points on a goal and two assists for Harvard, while Lindsay Weaver and Jenny Brine had two assists each. The Crimson improved to
5-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the ECACHL.
