Box ScorePrinceton, NJ (Feb. 25, 2005)Princeton erupted with four goals in both the first and second periods to upend Union 9-1 in women's hockey action at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers got a natural hat trick from April Brown to lead second period scoring. Brown's goals came within six minutes of each other beginning with the first at 1:41. Union (5-26-1, 0-19) got its lone goal from Ashley Kilstein (Cherry Hill, NJ) at 6:51 of the third period to prevent the shutout.
Princeton got on the board early with a goal from Tarah Clark at 1:10 of the opening period. Clark also finished with two assists on the night. Sonja Novak made it a 2-0 game at 11:26 off a feed from Liz Keady. Two more goals in the final five minutes of the first extended the lead to 4-0. Union starter Amanda Hanson (Brainerd, MN) made 17 saves. She would be replaced by Dana Smullyan (Salisbury, CT) to start the second period.
Brown went to work for the Tigers in the second. She scored a short handed goal at 5:22 in between two even strength tallies. Her third goal came at 6:39 off an assist from Heather Jackson as she sent the puck past Smullyan who finished with 32 saves.
Kilstein made it 8-1 with her seventh goal of the season when she snuck a shot past back up goaltender Rebecca Allen, who replaced starter Roxanne Gaudiel at the start of the second period. Allen finished with five saves while Gaudiel made four. Sophomore Elise Nichols (Pittsfield, MA) and senior Jamie Laubisch (Apalachin, NY) were credited with the assists on Kilstein's goal.
Sarah Butsch wrapped up the scoring on the power play at 12:51.
Princeton outshot Union 58-10 for the game.
Union will close out its season tomorrow against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m.
