SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College men's lacrosse team opened the 2005 season with a 13-9 home victory over King's Point.
Pete Gross (Larchmont/Salisbury) and Andy West (Salem, NH/Derryfield) had four points each to lead the Dutchmen. Both scored two goals, and Brian Bendjy (Ronkonkoma/Salisbury) also scored twice in the victory. Bill Condon (West Hartford/Conard) scored three goals for the hosts while Dan Myerow (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) had a team-high three assists.
Jim Flannery led King's Point with four goals and six points, while Sean Dougherty had three goals and four points.
Union outshot King's Point, 40-31 and had a 41-19 advantage in ground balls. Rob Oram (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) made 11 saves for the Dutchmen while John Pagano stopped 15 for King's Point.
Union returns to action March 2 at Utica.
