UTICA, NY -- Pete Masterpole scored five goals and Andrew Singer tallied four times to lead Utica to a 15-7 men's lacrosse victory over Union Wednesday.

Utica had a 52-25 shot advantage in the contest, and a 40-34 advantage in ground balls in the team's season opener.

Union, which fell to 1-1 on the young season, was led by Dan Myerow (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury), who had three goals and five points. Pete Gross (Larchmont/Salisbury) scored two goals and had four points for the visitors.

Rob Oram (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) stopped 11 Utica shots in nearly 33 minutes of action, while Will Tamm (Millbrook/Lawrenceville) made eight saves in just over 27 minutes of play in the Dutchmen nets.

Union plays at Western New England on Saturday, March 5.
