Box ScorePrinceton, NJ (Feb. 26, 2005) Union closed out its season Saturday afternoon against No. 9 Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in a 9-2 loss. It was the Dutchwomen's second season of Division I competition as they finished 5-27-1 overall and 0-20 in the ECACHL. Princeton scored seven unanswered goals to earn a series sweep against Union and improve to 16-8-5 overall and 10-7-3 in league play.
Princeton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period which began with a goal by Marykate Oakley at 6:23. Liz Keady followed up at 8:46 with a power play goal. Laura Watt closed out the scoring in the first at 15:59 with her first of two goals. Watt tallied her second on the power play at 8:24 of the second period.
Oakley also scored her second goal in the second period off a pass from Brittany Salmon at 11:53. Union was outshot 41-4 through the first two periods and 57-13 for the game.
After falling behind 7-0 Union responded with a power play goal from Kate Gustafson (Kenora, ONT) at 3:41 of the third period. Ashley Kilstein (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Jamie Laubisch (Apalachin, NY) were credited with the assists. Sophomore Elise Nichols (Pittsfield, MA) got Union's second goal at 16:16 for her 14th of the season.
All three Union goaltenders took a period in net. Starter Lauren Carlson (Rochelle, IL) made 14 saves. Dana Smullyan (Salisbury, CT) came up with 20 saves in the second and Amanda Hanson (Brainerd, MN) finished things up with 14 stops in the third.
Princeton starter Roxanne Gaudiel made two saves in the first period to pick up the win. Rebecca Allen entered the game in the second period to finish things up. She made nine saves.
