Union women's soccer now 4-0 after win over Gettysburg

GENEVA, N.Y.The 12th-ranked Union College women's soccer team topped Gettysburg College 4-2 in the third game of the annual Heron Cup, hosted by William Smith College on Cozzens Field. First-year forward Ashley Brown (Suffield Academy/Plainville, Conn.) led the Dutchwomen with a goal and an assist.

The Bullets (0-3-1) opened the scoring on senior forward Katie Ferraro's (St. Mary's Academy/Westminster, Colo.) strike in the 22nd minute. The goal was the first of the season for Gettysburg, ending a scoreless streak of more than 311 minutes.

Union (4-0-0) equalized in the 44th minute on first-year midfielder Chelsea Hargis' (East Lyme/East Lyme, Conn.) third goal of the season.

Two minutes into the second half, junior midfielder Jenna Ondash (New Canaan/New Canaan, Conn.) gave the Dutchwomen their first lead of the contest.

Gettysburg junior forward Katie Meyers (WSTES/Randallstown, Md.) forged the match's second tie in the 59th minute, but Union responded with goals in the 64th and 75th minutes to remain undefeated. Senior forward Erica Eisenhut (Mohawk/Mohawk, N.Y.) recorded the game-winner, while Brown added an insurance tally.

In goal, senior Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk, N.Y.) made four saves for the win, while Gettysburg first-year Danielle St. Pierre (Trinity/Londonderry, N.H.) made 11 stops in her collegiate debut.

Senior midfielder Lindsey Capecelatro (Loomis Chaffee/Orange, Conn.), senior forward Cassandra Mariani (Mooris Catholic/Boonton, N.J.), and Eisenhut represented Union on the All-Tournament Team.
