Skidmore downs Dutchmen in soccer, 3-2

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Skidmore's men's soccer team improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the Liberty League after a 3-2 victory over Union Saturday. The Dutchmen fell to 8-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the league.
Skidmore struck first with an unassisted goal by junior Pat Phelan at 12:41. Union came back to tie the game at 22:58 in the first, with a goal by Hugo Fernandez-Davila (Latham, NY/Champagnat).
 
The Dutchmen took the lead in the second half with an unassisted goal by Craig Williams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), but Skidmore then tied the game after an own goal knocked in by a Union defender.
 
Overtime was a back and forth battle until junior Pete Brownell scored the winning goal after a pass from Alex MacFadyen at 99:08, in the first overtime.
 
Dutchmen goalie Rob Kramer (Westport, CT/Staples) had eight saves for Union while junior Thoroughbred goalie Jake Densen made four saves.
 
Union plays the second of three straight road games on Friday when they play at Hamilton at 4 p.m.
