ONEONTA, NY – Two goals by senior forward
Jessica Trotter (St. Louis, MO/ John Burroughs) lifted the Union College field hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Hartwick College in non-conference action at Wright Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The Dutchwomen, who have won six of the last seven games, surrendered a 2-0 lead, but came back to win in the 67
th minute on a Trotter goal to improve to 8-5. Hartwick drops to 4-9 on the season.
Trotter netted her first goal of the game in the 15
th minute off a pass from
Alison Krywanczyk (Essex Jct., VT/ Rice Memorial). Union added a goal in the 28
th minute when
Katie Belluci (Patterson, NY/ Pawling) scored off a corner, with
Emily Bryson (Charlestown,MA/Gov. Dummer) and
Mallory Mason (Southborough,MA/Algonquin Regional) notching assists.
Hartwick battled back in the second half, taking the lead on three unanswered goals. Jeney Schilling scored in the 52nd minute, and Molly Joyce registered a goal two minutes later to knot the game at 2-all. Danielle Greene notched the go-ahead goal at 55:02.
Trotter netted the game-winner with less than four minutes to play, with Mason collecting the assist.
Union outshot Hartwick, 29-12, and held a 17-11 advantage in penalty corners.
Liz Stanford (Acton,MA/Acton-Boxboro Regional) started the game for the Dutchwomen, but
Elise Wakefield (Arundel, ME/Kennebunk) earned the win playing the second half of the game. Emily McLean made 12 saves in the loss for Hartwick.
The Dutcwomen are back in action on Friday, October 20, when they host Rochester in a 4 p.m. Liberty League game at Bailey Field.
